Welcome to SummerButterfly’s weblog! I am just another college student experimenting with computers and blogging. This blog will probably contain posts on camping, the out-of-doors, music, college life, books, and other random topics of interest to me. I love to hike, sing, play ‘cello, read, etc. I am a history major in college, so this blog will probably also contain various history tidbits too- I tend to go on about it, so just bear with me.
The name SummerButterfly comes from several sources at once. Butterfly is my camp name at the Girl Scout camp where I work in the summertime. Summer Starshine is the nickname my math class gave me when I was a senior in high school, because evidently I look like the daughter of a flower child. My mother’s blog name is Winterwoman, so using summer as part of my name was either a nod to keeping seasons in the family or teenage cockiness, whichever mood you are in when you read this. I was also born in summer, and it is one of the times when I thrive the most. I’ve always thought butterflys were rather beautiful, but then who hasn’t? I’m not necessarily more attached to them than the average person, they just make for a beautiful nickname.
